Coach certification

Training and certification for archers who want to start coaching.

Interested in Coaching?

We believe in growing our coaching team from within. Our Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) archers are already participating in a leadership and skills program to prepare them for future coaching roles, and they are given first consideration when positions open. Coaching roles are only offered to active Arrow Dynamic Archery Club Members who complete our training and certification pathway.

Archery Coaching Pathway at Arrow Dynamic Archery

1. Join the club and get active

  • Sign up for a membership.
  • Participate regularly in club practices, events, and programs such as our Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program or Adult program to build your archery skills and club involvement.

2. Club leadership and mentoring

  • Participate in Arrow Dynamic club leadership training sessions designed for JOAD archers interested in coaching roles.
  • Receive mentoring from experienced coaches to develop your coaching style and program leadership skills.
  • Learn people skills that ensure a high standard of communication, safety, and enjoyment for every participant on the range — engaging, motivating, and adapting to archers of all ages and abilities.
  • JOAD archers actively engaged in this pathway receive priority consideration for coaching positions at Arrow Dynamic Archery.

3. Start with USA Archery Level 1 certification

  • Minimum age: 15.
  • Complete the USA Archery Level 1 Instructor online course and pass the exam.
  • Attend an in-person practical course covering range safety, shooting steps, equipment, and beginner-level coaching skills.
  • Obtain USA Archery membership and complete SafeSport training. (Background screening is not required by USA Archery until 18 years of age.)
  • This certification prepares you to safely coach beginner archery programs.

5. Advanced coaching certifications (optional)

  • Pursue higher-level certifications such as USA Archery Level 3 or Level 4 Coach Certification for competition and elite athlete development.
  • Engage in continuous education, workshops, and practical coaching experience.

6. Coaching positions
