The NTS shot process, built to be learned on the shooting line. Every step with what it is, what to check, what your coach is watching, and the one cue that makes it stick.
Tap any card and the page jumps back up to the timeline with that step open. Steps 1–3 are the setup you build before the shot ever starts moving.
The mental steps are what the archer focuses on during the NTS shot cycle. Each one is about reaching the end position of that step before moving to the next.
Why “aaannnddd”? It is the arousal and intensity control that prepares you for expansion. It takes around two seconds to fully control your intensity before you are ready to execute the shot. It is a real step, not filler.
Where are aiming and release? Deliberately absent. Aim and release are subconscious and are not part of the mental process. During expansion the archer should be focused on maintaining tension and direction of expansion through the end of follow-through.
The physical steps are what the body does. The mental steps are the shorter list you actually run in your head. Here is how one maps onto the other — tap any row to open that step.
From Set to follow-through, tension only ever goes up. If a number ever goes backwards, that is a collapse — and it is the first thing to look for.
Holding means you are completely braced inside the bow and can withstand the forces of the bow pulling your arm forward. There should be no shaking at full draw. You should feel a strong connection from the tip of the draw elbow, through the middle and lower trapezius on both sides of the scapula, all the way to the pressure point on the grip.
Holding is a conscious step and a phase — you maintain the feeling of holding through expansion, release and follow-through.
Simple to competition-like. Run one drill per session, tied to one priority — not five corrections at once.
The whole system on one page. Print it, cut it, tape it inside a tab pouch.
Keep expanding, keep looking — and let the bow finish the shot.
